When I turned nine, that's when the bullying started and I also lost my mother. I remember feeling like I was the biggest in the class, but I didn't know that something could be done about it. Yes, I took gym and played outside everyday, but that was it. Leaving school and going back to a home where they thought feeding me, was loving me. My afterschool activities were piano lessons and going to work with my aunt, learning how to price merchandise and create displays on shelves. During this time, the word "fat" became known and was everywhere I went. Family can be so cruel sometimes. They would make a comment about my weight, then when it was time to eat, I still had no clue on what eating healthy even meant. In fact, the word "healthy" was rarely used in my environment and there was no limit on how many servings I could have. So who's fault is it? I've been consistent all these years, with how I was taught to eat.
In middle school is when I started my first "diet". The diet was, "eat at school and when you get home, don't eat nothing, but noodles". Yep! That's what I did, and I remember how excited that person was, that I was no longer wearing a size 20 in uniform pleated skirts. Ugh! I hated those! Since I was being deprived of eating, I began to sneak and eat food. I got caught a couple of times :) I really wish I had been taught what a balanced meal was.
Throughout my adulthood, I have tried every weight loss supplement, looking for a quick fix. Finally, at the age of 31, the search is over. I have chosen a healthier lifestyle, along with eating sweet treats in moderation. The title "Who's Fault is it", was thought of when I went grocery shopping and I bought vegetables that I have never eaten before. For example; Beets, just mentioning the name my face used to frown. Have I ever eaten them? No. Did I know what they look like? No. So, why was I opposed to eating them? Anyway, I looked on Allrecipes.com for instructions on how to cook them. They have a strong taste, but I actually like them! Who knew?! I also like Swiss Chard. I am going to make it my goal to try every vegetable that Whole Foods has to offer.
Parents, please give your children an opportunity to develop a healthy lifestyle at an early age. You are the one in control of what goes into their bodies. It is okay if they do not like it, but you are also setting an example, on what a well balanced meal should look like. If you choose to fry every thing, and add tons of butter and sugar, please don't discipline him or her for being overweight. You perhaps have caused it.
I have uploaded more pictures, take a look. Until next time...
